Arsene Wenger hits back at Martin Keown over criticism of Arsenal in defeat at Tottenham

Arsene Wenger rejected Martin Keown’s claim that Arsenal lacked hunger in the side’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.
The north London clubs shared equal possession but Mauricio Pochettino‘s men had 18 shots at the final whistle, three times Arsenal’s tally in front of a record-breaking crowd at Wembley.
Harry Kane found the net in the 49th minute which took England’s centre-forward to seven goals in seven Premier League appearances against the Gunners.
Arsenal legend Keown accused his former team of lacking ‘hunger’ but Wenger hit back at his comments following the defeat.
Asked if he agreed with Keown’s criticism, Wenger replied: ‘I don’t think they lack hunger to defend.
‘They got caught by a super striker who is one of the best in the world. He scores against everybody.
‘All the defenders in the world must lack hunger then.’
Wenger claimed that Arsenal’s form away from home has been a major concern all season.
Asked about Arsenal’s away record this term, Wenger replied: ‘Very poor.
‘I believe as well that once they scored their goal that played a part. Overall football is about scoring goals.
‘You can say we’re not strong enough defensively – but we also don’t score enough if you look at the top six.
Keown believes Arsenal’s only chance of silverware this season is in the Europa League.

‘The Europa League is the only way Arsenal can achieve anything season. That’s their only route,’ he said on BT Sport.
‘Wenger had to find his best XI and his best shape.’
